Explorers

Explorers is a mixed-age class of Reception and Year 1 children, taught by Miss Dolby and supported by Mrs Robinson. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for Reception and the National Curriculum for Year 1. We have a outside area to provide free flow learning opportunities and we also have planned times to access the playground and field to use the outside.

An important part of having a mixed-age class is the role the older children play in helping the younger children to settle in to the school environment; working and playing with others, sharing and learning with their friends.

 Parent Workshop

Parents and carers of children in Explorers Class are invited to workshops on a variety of themes and are held once or twice per term.

Some of the workshops will cover areas and methods in which adults can support their child’s learning such as reading Cafes, others will focus on the topics the children are studying in school.

These workshops give parents and carers an idea of teaching and learning at Garvestone Primary school.
