We have successfully achieved the ’Healthy Schools’ Status.
We supply free fruit and vegetables and other healthy snacks to all the children in school at break times.
There is very good evidence to suggest that the best learning is possible when the brain is kept well hydrated. Each child is supplied with their own, named, non-spill water bottle by the school so that they can drink water whenever they wish. We also have a drinking water fountain in school.
Norfolk County Council menus are sent home which give details of the hot meals that can be purchased at the current cost of £2.20. It is a set, 2-course meal. There is also a vegetarian option or baked potato with various fillings or packed lunch available to order. Water is supplied but the children can also bring a drink of juice or squash from home if they wish.
Lunches are preferably ordered and paid for in advance on Mondays, through the school office – or daily if required – please make cheques payable to Garvestone Primary School. Please put payments in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, date and amount tendered on the front, thanks. Your child/ren can order their choice of meal for the day from the menu each morning at registration.
Alternatively, your child can bring their own packed lunch with them.
We encourage parents to provide as ‘healthy as possible’ packed lunches and politely request that no sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks are brought to school.
We also request that no glass bottles are brought in.
If it is a child’s birthday they are allowed to bring cakes or biscuits in to share if they wish.
Our Dining Room Assistants are Mrs. R. Rivett and Mrs Z. Dagless
Our Mid-day Supervisory Assistants (MSAs) are:
Miss. J. Bazzoni
Mrs. S. Skipper
We encourage all the children to mix and play together and we play traditional playground games with them. There is a set of rules – which the children are all familiar with.
If you have any queries at all regarding lunches etc., please ring the school office on 01362 850315.
